The world celebrates National Grandparents Day on the month of September but that doesn’t stop us from saying thank you to our lolos and lolas every month of the year. Acts of thoughtfulness, elderly assistance and simple gifts can be given to our beloved Lolo and Lola. If you haven’t given them anything yet, maybe these ideas might help. As the saying goes, “it’s better late than never.”
« Arts and Crafts
o All you need are art materials, old pictures, a lot of creativity and LOVE Y! I think there’s no better way of saying “I love you” to someone than saying it with a nicely done photo album with all the great memories of yesteryears. A great bonding time with Lolo and Lola while they reminisce the old times.
« Dinner for Two
o Dinner for two can be enjoyed by everyone. What makes this special? Grandchildren and children can play as servers for the night while Lolo and Lola enjoy the sumptuous meal prepared by the family, while music of their time plays in the background.
« Take a ride
o Take a ride down memory lane. You know how they would always tell us fond memories of a certain place? Let’s take them there. This may be the church where they got married. Or the place they used to frequent when they were younger. This will definitely bring back fun memories.
« Dinner with the Family
o Dinner with the family is the best—this is the time for catching up on each other’s lives, share a few stories and make our grandparents see that they are indeed special! In fact, we can all do this once a week or once a month. Where we can bring food to share and just sit down after the big meal and look at the family photo albums.
With these gifts, I’m definitely sure that our grandparents will feel extra special not only on Grandparents day but everyday.
“Pay attention to your father,
and don’t neglect your mother when she grows old.”
